Our Lady’s Compassion

May is the month of flowers and also the honoring of Mary this tradition began in Naples and spread across Europe. Hawthorn flowers have been steep in pagan folklore and magic. The flower and berries are traditionally used to lower blood pressure and also strengthen the heart. The flowers and leaves were burned to be able to see the fairies. The pagans used it cleanses the heart of negative feeling and foster love and forgiveness. It was once the traditional flowers to crown Mother Mary on May Day. It was known as Mary’s Berry in the Sacred Flora of Mary. Today I had a little time with my camera and took this image of Mary at a local shrine, near by was a blooming hawthorn tree. May hearts be open May Love heal and reveal to each one of us what is truly real.
